Staying true to their tradition, Groggy Rude once again reinterpret a universal hit, adapting it into Catalan and punk rock. This time, the band takes on “Freed From Desire” by Gala Rizzato, an undeniable anthem of the 90s and 2000s dance scene that has remained relevant to this day. Beyond their hooligan, party-driven sound, the band delivers a clear message of brotherhood, friendship and collective celebration: the joy of having a good time together with the people we love. The music video, with a strong humorous touch, brings this spirit to life through a football match between two rival teams — Punkarrada FC and CE Altafulla — with inevitable clashes and tensions that end in a shared celebration at a tavern. The piece is completed by the appearance of Jordi and Jordina, the band’s now-iconic inflatable characters featured in previous cover videos.

“The folks from the south will kill us all”, as Valero Sanmartí used to say… especially if it’s with a guitar and punk attitude. In recent years, Tarragona has become the mecca of 21st-century Catalan punk-rock, and Groggy Rude are its new sensation. The punk-rock power trio, formed in 2016, carries on the Tarragona punk-rock tradition and, with emotive lyrics, razor-sharp guitars, and melodies as effervescent as they are contagious, delivers blasts of Catalan punk-rock that could have been imagined by Lars Frederiksen having a few beers in Serrallo with Grade 2 before setting off on his own boat to conquer — or lose bous i esquelles — in London, Boston, or Los Angeles. The most exuberant youth sing along and adore them with joy, and the Groggy, tough punkers and hard workers as they are, have already left us a demo, two full-length albums, and a split with Batec. Catalan punk-rock remains the soundtrack of camaraderie and, by excellence, of a large part of the youth, and among Groggy Rude’s hits, their punk adaptations of classics like “Serà perché ti amo”, “Geordie”, or “Em poses a 100” are already destined to be timeless..
