Romàntic Dimoni

ROMÀNTIC DIMONI is the new alter ego of Carles Caselles (ex-Smoking Souls). In his solo debut, 'Primer Moviment', Caselles explores a rock sound influenced by Anglo-Saxon post-punk—conceptual and free of labels. Under the premise of “love against the machine”, ROMÀNTIC DIMONI presents himself as a tender terrorist: a masked character who fights individualism and the system through collective care and radical tenderness, because freedom will be collective or it will not be.

The twelve tracks on ROMÀNTIC DIMONI’s debut album are produced by Joel Gilabert and mark the beginning of a new vital and artistic phase for Caselles, in search of a personal and genuine style rooted in rock with references to Anglo-Saxon post-punk—sometimes rawer, sometimes more atmospheric—adding a bold and innovative conceptual layer. From the artist’s previous stage, we recognize the strength of the lyrics and melodies, the contrast between the power of the music and the closeness, intimacy and sweetness of the lyricism, always imbued with a high poetic level. Here, everything revolves around a clear premise that also serves as the cornerstone of the project: “love against the machine”. This is both a statement of intent and a firm political stance: in a consumerist and individualistic world, tenderness is revolution, and holding onto small, everyday things means swimming against the current in a society ruled by oversized egos, false gurus and an oppressive aesthetic. Here, love is understood as sensitive empathy and care for the collective, not only for romantic partners. As Bell Hooks once said, “love is a form of revolutionary resistance”; a way of breaking with the established norm and the current drift.
