Marala
Marala are the Catalan Selma Bruna, the Mallorcan Clara Fiol, and the Valencian Sandra Monfort. They are interested in tradition as a force of innovation and express it through three voices, guitars, and a subtle layer of electronics. They are virtuous and have the will to pull on the thread of intimacy and make it visible. They are also driven by the anger of having been silenced for centuries and are committed to not staying silent any longer. Their songs are inspired by the present and aim to honor the past.
Active since 2018 with their first album, A trenc d'alba (U98music, 2020), they now present a forceful and hopeful album about death, Jota de Morir (Propaganda pel Fet!, 2023). After researching death in traditional music, they wanted to continue giving voice to this theme and free it from silenced corners. They also sought to find light, rage, irony, and as many nuances as possible.
