La Maria

La Maria, stage name of Maria Bertomeu, is revolutionizing Valencian singing with the album "L’Assumpció" (2023), her highly anticipated debut studio work produced by Tono Hurtado and released by the record label Propaganda pel Fet! The album includes songs inspired by structures of Valencian singing and motifs from traditional music that the singer, by evolving them, turns into a distinctive and irresistible proposal complemented by a hypnotic voice.

A testament to the strength and charm of the artist is the fact that La Maria was the big winner at the Ovidi Awards 2023 for Valencian music and also one of the most awarded at the Carles Santos Awards 2023 from the Valencian Government. At the Ovidi Awards, she won three out of the four categories she was nominated for: Best Emerging Artist, Best Arrangements and Production for "L’Assumpció", and Best Song for "Mon vetlatori." At the Carles Santos Awards, she received accolades for Best Emerging Artist and Best Design from Branca Studio. Furthermore, her latest music video, "Gall roig, gall negre" her Valencian version of the legendary piece by Chicho Sánchez Ferlosio, released in September 2023, has also been highly praised by critics and audiences, accumulating thousands of views on social media.
